Overview
This guide walks a Vendor Admin through setting up their company's Marketplace Profile in Built's Marketplace. The Marketplace Profile is the structured, vendor-owned profile that Buyers can view when discovering vendors. Vendor Admins can configure Business Details, add Service Offerings, define coverage areas, and preview the profile before it goes live.
Who is this for? The Vendor Admin role — the user within a Vendor Organization who has permission to create and manage the Marketplace Profile, configure Service Offerings, and define coverage areas.
Step 1: Navigate to Marketplace Profile Settings
Description
Access Marketplace Profile settings through the Built navigation menu.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Log in to Built.
In the top navigation bar, select the Settings cog (⚙️).
In the left navigation panel, select Marketplace Profile.
The Marketplace Profile page displays two tabs: Business Details and Services & Coverage. The Preview Profile button is always visible in the section navigation, regardless of which tab is active.
Step 2: Complete Your Business Details
Description
Enter your company's business information on the Business Details tab.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Select the Business Details tab.
Fill in your company's business information in the available fields.
Select Save to save your Business Details.
Step 3: Set Up Your Services & Coverage
Description
Add Service Offerings to define the types of services your company provides and the geographic areas you cover. If no Service Offerings exist yet, the Services & Coverage tab displays an empty state prompting you to add your first offering.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Select the Services & Coverage tab.
Select + New Offering to open the 3-step modal.
Add a photo as needed
Step 1 of 3 — Select Service Type(s): In the modal, select one or more service types your company provides (e.g., Draw Inspection, Appraisal, Phase I ESA, Title Search). Services are listed alphabetically. Service types that already have an existing offering will not appear in the list. Select Next to proceed, or Cancel to close without saving.
Step 2 of 3 — Define Coverage Area & Add Sample Reports: For each selected service, define your Coverage Area using one of the following options: Specific ZIP codes, Specific counties, Specific states, Continental US (48 contiguous states), or Nationwide US (all 50 states). Optionally, upload one or more Sample Reports to showcase your work for that service. If you selected 2 or more services, check Apply to all remaining service offerings to copy the coverage area to all selected services — you can still adjust coverage individually for each service. Select Next to continue.
Step 3 of 3 — Review & Save: Review the summary of all service offerings, coverage areas, and sample reports you configured. Select Back to make changes, or select Save. The modal closes and your services appear in the Services & Coverage table.
Note:
The Order Type (service type) cannot be edited after saving. If you need a different service type, delete the offering and create a new one with the correct type.
Every service offering must have at least one coverage area defined before it can be saved.
Step 4: Edit an Existing Service Offering
Description
Update the coverage area or sample reports for a service offering already on your Services & Coverage tab.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
On the Services & Coverage tab, locate the service offering you want to update.
Select the Edit (pencil icon) on that row.
In the edit modal, update the coverage area and/or add, update, or delete sample report(s).
Select Save to confirm, or Cancel / X to close without saving.
Note:
A coverage area must be present to save. If you attempt to save without coverage, an error will appear. Resolving the error clears it automatically — you do not need to select Save again.
Step 5: Delete a Service Offering
Description
Permanently remove a service offering from your Marketplace Profile.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
On the Services & Coverage tab, locate the service offering you want to remove.
Select the Trash icon on that row.
In the confirmation modal, select Delete to permanently remove the offering, or Cancel to return to the table with no changes.
Step 6: Preview Your Marketplace Profile
Description
Before your profile is visible to Buyers, preview exactly what they will see. The Preview Profile button is always available in the section navigation.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Select the Preview Profile button from the section navigation.
A preview panel opens showing your Business Details and your Services & Coverage, including sample reports. The preview is read-only — edits cannot be made from this view.
Select X to close the preview and return to editing.
Note:
Use Preview Profile to verify everything looks correct before sharing your profile link or before a Buyer discovery search surfaces your listing.
Helpful Tips
Nationwide vs. Continental US: Nationwide covers all 50 states. Continental US covers the 48 contiguous states (excludes Alaska and Hawaii). US territories are not included in either option.
Sample Reports per service: Each service offering can have its own sample report(s). Sample reports are not copied when a service offering is duplicated in Admin Tools.
Coverage is required to save: Every service offering must have at least one coverage area defined before it can be saved.
Only Vendor Admins can edit: Other user roles within your Vendor Organization can view but not edit the Marketplace Profile.
FAQ
Can I reorder the sections on my Marketplace Profile?
No, the section order is fixed.
Can I change the service type (Order Type) after setting up a Service Offering?
No. The Order Type cannot be edited after saving. If you need a different service type, delete the existing offering and create a new one with the correct type.
What happens if I delete all of my Service Offerings?
The Services & Coverage tab returns to the empty state, prompting you to add a new offering.
Can Buyers see my profile before I complete it?
Your Marketplace Profile is discoverable by Buyers once it is visible in the system. Use Preview Profile to check what Buyers see before your profile goes live.
What should I do if I can't see the Settings cog or Marketplace Profile option?
This option is only visible to users with the Vendor Admin role. If you don't see it, contact your organization administrator to confirm your role permissions.
