How to Find Your MFA Code

If you’ve set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and are having trouble signing in, this guide can help you locate your MFA code—whether it comes from an authenticator app or a text message (SMS)

Find your SMS MFA Code

If you chose to receive your MFA code by text message but don’t see it, check your Spam or Filtered Messages.

iPhone (iOS):

  1. Open the Messages app

  2. Tap the three lines in the top-right corner

  3. Check Unknown Senders and Spam

Android:

  1. Open the Messages app

  2. Tap the profile icon or three dots in the top-right corner

  3. Select Spam & blocked

Still not receiving the code? Check that your phone has service and can receive SMS messages. Then, wait 60 seconds and request a new code.

Find Your Authenticator App MFA Code

Step 1: Search Your Phone

You may already have a TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) app installed. Try using your phone’s search feature to check.

  1. From your Home Screen, swipe to open the search bar:

    1. iPhone (iOS): Swipe down from the middle of the screen.

    2. Android: Swipe up to open the app drawer.

  2. In the search bar, type one of these keywords:

    • Passwords

    • Authenticator

    • 2FA

    • MFA

    • OTP

  3. Look for installed apps like:

    • Passwords

    • Google Authenticator

    • Microsoft Authenticator

    • Authy

    • Duo Mobile

    • 1Password

    • LastPass Authenticator

    • Okta Verify

  4. Open the apps and check whether they have a code for Built

Step 2: Check Password Managers

If you use a password manager such as 1Password, Bitwarden, or LastPass, it may store your MFA codes within the app. Open your password manager and look for an “Authenticator,” “2FA,” or “One-Time Password” section.

Step 3: Check for Cloud Sync or Backups (if you’ve changed phones)

If you recently got a new phone or reinstalled your authenticator app and don’t see your codes, some apps let you restore them through a cloud backup or sync feature (for example, Google Authenticator or Authy). Open the app and confirm whether you’re signed in — you might be able to restore your codes this way.
