New Transaction Posting and History Experience

Prev Next

Purpose

The new transaction posting and history experience reorganizes deal-level financial activity into a three-tier hierarchy, giving users clearer visibility into how each transaction impacts funding sources and allocations. The experience also adds in-grid filtering, full Excel export, allocation-level posting, and real-time balance updates so users can manage transactions with greater accuracy and less manual work.

Key Features

  1. Three-Tier Transaction Hierarchy: Transactions are organized into deal, funding source, and allocation layers for detailed tracking.

  2. In-Grid Filtering and Export: Filter transactions by type or date range, expand or collapse rows, and export all three layers to Excel.

  3. Allocation-Level Posting: Post transactions at the allocation level with manual splits or automatic pro rata calculations.

  4. Real-Time Balance Updates: Principal balances and outstanding commitments update automatically as transactions are saved and posted.

  5. Transaction Reversal and Backdating: Reverse a transaction by entering a negative value, and optionally backdate to the original transaction date.

Target Users

Users managing deal, funding source, and allocation transactions.

How It Works

Understanding Transaction Layers

Transactions are organized into three hierarchical layers:

  1. Deal Transaction (Top Level): Represents the overall transaction, combining all impacted funding sources.

  2. Funding Source Transactions (Second Level): Shows each individual funding source affected by the deal transaction.

  3. Allocation Transactions (Third Level): For participated or syndicated funding sources, allocations are displayed here and roll up to their respective funding sources.

Filtering and Exporting Transactions

  1. Expand or collapse rows: Expand all rows to view every transaction detail, or collapse for a summary view.

  2. Filter transactions: Use filters to narrow results by transaction type or date range directly within the grid.

  3. Export data: Click Export to download an Excel file containing all three transaction levels.

Creating New Transactions

  1. Click New Transaction.

  2. Select the desired transaction type from the list. Types are grouped by business logic.

  3. Hover over the information icon next to the Transaction Type field for a tooltip explaining the transaction types.

  4. Enter the transaction details as prompted.

Posting and Reversing Transactions

  1. Post at the allocation level: Post transactions such as interest payments and fees at the allocation level. Split amounts manually as needed, or let the system calculate pro rata splits.

  2. View real-time updates: Principal balance and outstanding commitment values update as the transaction is drafted, and update automatically when the transaction is saved and posted.

  3. Reverse a transaction: Enter a negative value to reverse the original transaction.

  4. Backdate a transaction: Backdate a transaction to match the original transaction date.

Benefits

  • Clearer visibility into how transactions roll up across deals, funding sources, and allocations.

  • Faster reconciliation and reporting through in-grid filtering and full Excel export.

  • More precise control over allocation-level postings, including pro rata splits.

  • Confidence in real-time balance accuracy as transactions are drafted and posted.

  • Simpler corrections through transaction reversal and backdating.
