Purpose
Inspection Data Integration brings third-party inspection findings directly into the draw budget, so reviewers can validate a funding request against observed construction progress without leaving the draw.
Reviewing a draw has historically meant comparing information across several surfaces — the budget, pay applications, historical draw data, and a separate inspection report — and manually reconciling construction progress against the amount being requested. That reconciliation adds review time and creates room for error. The standard budget view is also built for budget management (draw and adjustment values) rather than for inspection-based validation.
This release addresses both problems. Budget fields that represent construction progress now surface inspection data where the inspection is the most accurate source of truth, and a new Built-standard saved view lays those fields out in a format built specifically for inspection review.
Key Features
Inspection-powered budget fields: Budget columns that represent construction progress or inspection findings are populated from the associated inspection rather than from values calculated off existing system data. Two new columns — Risk Flag and Inspector Comment — are also sourced from the inspection.
Inspection Review standard saved view: A Built-standard saved view on the draw budget, available to every user without configuring columns manually, laying out budget, request, and inspection values side by side.
Inspection line item capture: The inspector — or a lender completing an order on behalf of one — records % Complete, Remaining to Complete, Stored Materials, Recommendation to Fund, a Risk Flag, and a comment against each construction line item.
Progress and funding variance signals: Progress Since Last Inspection and Funding Variance columns highlight how much work has been completed since the prior draw cycle and where funding is running ahead of or behind verified progress.
Construction timeline comparison: Loan Current Maturity Date, Deal Project End Date, and the inspector’s Estimated Construction Completion Date appear together, with a divergence warning when the inspector’s date runs past either comparison date.
Target Users
Draw reviewers — the primary audience. Reviewers validate funding requests against observed construction progress inside the draw.
Inspectors — enter per-line-item observations on the inspection order form so their findings reach the lender.
Organization administrators — configure the inspection order form that collects line item values.
How It Works
1. Configure the Inspection Order Form
Line item capture is driven by the order form the inspector fills out, so the form needs an inspection line items element before inspectors can record per-item values.
Go to Organization Settings > Customization > Order Forms.
Create a new order form with + New Order Form, or edit an existing Inspection-type form.

Order Forms list in Organization Settings. Editing a published order form only affects new order requests.
On the Custom Form Builder step, drag the Inspection Line Items element (Table Input, Integrated Data) onto the form.
Complete Review & Create to publish the form.

The Inspection Line Items table element added to an Inspection order form under a Line Item & Payment Recommendation heading.
Note:
Editing a published order form only impacts new order requests — inspections already in progress continue to use the version of the form they were created with.
2. Recording Values per Line Item
The inspector — or a lender completing the order on behalf of one — opens the assigned order from their Orders list and works on the Inspection Report tab. Under Line Item & Payment Recommendation, the Inspection Line Items table lists the budget line items; View & edit inspection items opens the full grid.

Inspection Report tab — the Inspection Line Items table with the View & edit inspection items link.
In the grid, budget context (Original Amount, Current Adjustment, Revised Amount, Current Draw Request) is read-only, and whoever is completing the order fills in their observations for each line item. Value fields can be entered as either a percentage or a dollar amount using the % / $ control at the top right of the grid:
Field recorded on the order | What the inspector records |
|---|---|
% Complete | Observed percentage of the line item that is complete. |
Remaining to Complete | Cost to complete the remaining work on the line item. |
Stored Materials | Value of stored materials the inspector verified on site. This reaches the draw as Inspector Stored Materials and does not change the draw’s own Stored Materials value. |
Recommendation to Fund | Amount recommended for funding on the line item. |
Risk Flag | Checkbox marking the line item as a risk for the reviewer to look at. |
Inspector Comment | Free-text observation for the line item. |

View and edit inspection items — budget context on the left, with % Complete, Total Completed, and Remaining to Complete.

Scrolling right in the same grid reveals Stored Materials, Risk Flag, Inspector Comment, and Recommendation to Fund.
Total Completed is calculated from the inspection rather than entered directly. Done saves the grid; Submit Order submits it for review.
3. Inspection Values Flow into the Draw Budget
Once the inspection is submitted, the associated draw picks up the inspection values. The following budget fields are inspection-powered:
Budget column | Source of truth |
|---|---|
% Completed | Taken directly from the inspection |
Total Completed | Inspection-derived calculation |
Remaining to Complete | Inspector Cost-to-Complete value |
Inspector Stored Materials (new column) | Inspection — display-only comparison context. It does not update the draw-owned Stored Materials column. |
Recommendation to Fund | Inspection |
Inspector Comment (new column) | Inspection |
Risk Flag (new column) | Inspection |
The default draw workflow does not change. Reviewers open the draw and go to Sources & Uses as they always have; the difference is that key progress and validation fields are now inspection-aware.

Draw 3, Sources & Uses on the Default view. The yellow Inspection Variance badge appears in the Sources & Uses validation bar above the budget.
Note:
The yellow Inspection Variance badge in the Sources & Uses validation bar is existing behavior and is unchanged by this release. It appears when the Current Draw Request does not match the Recommendation To Fund. It is not the same thing as the new Funding Variance column described below.
4. Switch to the Inspection Review Saved View
Inspection Review is a Built-standard saved view, so it is available on the draw budget without any column configuration. Select the saved views control next to History (labeled Default when no other view is applied) and choose Inspection Review under Standard Views.

Inspection Review listed under Standard Views, alongside Default. The Choose Columns panel shows which columns the view includes.
The view contains the following columns:
Column | Source |
|---|---|
Item Description | Budget |
Revised Amount | Budget |
Current Draw Request | Borrower / lender input |
Funding Amount | Calculated |
Inspector % Complete | Inspection |
Inspector Total Completed | Inspection-derived |
Progress Since Last Inspection | Calculated: current inspection completion % − previous inspection completion % |
Inspector Remaining to Complete | Inspection |
Stored Materials | Draw-owned data — part of draw math |
Inspector Stored Materials | Inspection — display-only comparison context |
Recommendation to Fund | Inspection |
Funding Variance | Calculated: Funded To Date − Inspector Total Completed |
Risk Flag | Inspection |
Inspector Comment | Inspection |

The Inspection Review view on Draw 3, showing inspection-sourced columns beside the budget.
Progress Since Last Inspection shows the change in completion percentage since the prior inspection, which is what tells a reviewer whether the amount being requested is consistent with the work that has actually happened since the last cycle.
Funding Variance subtracts Inspector Total Completed from Funded To Date, so the sign tells the reviewer which side is ahead:
Positive — more has been funded than the inspector reports complete.
Negative — inspector-reported completion exceeds funding to date.
Zero — funding and reported completion are aligned.

Scrolling right in the Inspection Review view surfaces Recommendation To Fund and Funding Variance.
Note:
Stored Materials and Inspector Stored Materials are two different columns. Stored Materials is draw-owned data and remains part of draw math. Inspector Stored Materials comes from the fulfilled inspection form and is display-only comparison context — it never updates the draw-owned value.
5. Compare Construction Timeline Dates
Draw Inspection also surfaces three completion dates side by side, so a reviewer can see whether the inspector’s view of the construction timeline still fits the loan and project deadlines:
Date | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
Loan Current Maturity Date | The current maturity date on the primary, non-excluded debt source |
Deal Project End Date | The deal project |
Estimated Construction Completion Date | The estimated completion date on the fulfilled inspection order |
When the inspector’s Estimated Construction Completion Date falls later than either available comparison date, a divergence warning appears — the signal that construction is tracking past the loan or project deadline and needs attention.
Benefits
Reviewers can validate a draw without opening an external inspection report.
Key inspection findings — completion, cost to complete, stored materials, risk flags, and inspector commentary — are surfaced directly in the draw budget.
Progress and funding figures are grounded in verified field observations rather than system math.
Users can move between budget management and inspection validation workflows by switching saved views, with no manual column setup.
Line items where funding is outpacing verified construction progress are easy to spot.
Construction running past the loan maturity or project end date is flagged during draw review rather than discovered later.
Review time and missed issues are reduced.
Best Practices
Add the Inspection Line Items element before ordering inspections. Inspection-powered budget fields depend on line item values, and editing a published order form only affects new order requests.
Ask inspectors to complete every inspectable line item. Line items left at zero show as “--” in the draw, which is indistinguishable from no observed progress.
Use Inspection Review for validation, Default for budget management. The Default view remains the right place for draw and adjustment work; Inspection Review is purpose-built for checking a request against observed progress.
Start with Risk Flag and Funding Variance. Together they point to the line items most worth a closer look before approving.
Read Progress Since Last Inspection alongside the current request. A request that outpaces the completion delta since the last inspection is worth questioning.
Not Included in This Release
Draw Ticket. The new inspection columns and values are not surfaced on the Draw Ticket. That work is tracked separately.
FAQ
Does the inspection vendor have to complete the inspection, or can a lender enter these values?
Either. The assigned inspector records the values, or a lender can complete the order on behalf of one. What matters is that the order is fulfilled — the budget picks up inspection values only after fulfillment.
Which values are entered, and which are calculated?
% Complete, Remaining to Complete, Stored Materials, Recommendation to Fund, Risk Flag, and the comment are entered per line item. Total Completed is calculated from the inspection and cannot be typed in.
Can values be entered as a percentage instead of a dollar amount?
Yes. Use the % / $ control at the top right of the inspection items grid to switch how value fields are entered.
Why aren't inspection values showing on my draw?
Check three things: the order form includes the Inspection Line Items element, the order has been fulfilled, and the line item actually had values recorded. Line items left blank show as “--” in the draw, which looks the same as no observed progress.
I added the Inspection Line Items element but my in-flight inspections don't have it.
Editing a published order form only affects new order requests. Inspections already in progress continue on the version of the form they were created with.
What's the difference between Stored Materials and Inspector Stored Materials?
Stored Materials is draw-owned data and remains part of draw math. Inspector Stored Materials comes from the fulfilled inspection and is display-only comparison context — it never overwrites the draw-owned value.
Is the Inspection Variance badge the same as the Funding Variance column?
No. The yellow Inspection Variance badge in the Sources & Uses validation bar is existing behavior, unchanged by this release, and appears when Current Draw Request doesn't match Recommendation To Fund. Funding Variance is a new column in the Inspection Review view comparing Funded To Date against Inspector Total Completed.
Do I need to configure columns to use the Inspection Review view?
No. It's a Built-standard saved view, available to every user under Standard Views with no setup.
