Overview
FlexFields is a configurable feature designed to help organizations track and manage custom internal data within deals and funding sources. It allows users to extend the existing data model by adding custom fields, which enhances reporting capabilities and streamlines integration with partner APIs. FlexFields are especially useful for clients who require internal data tracking that doesn’t exist in the default system.
Creating and Configuring FlexFields
Description
FlexFields are set up in the Organization Settings and can only be managed by users who have the “Flex Field Configuration” permission. These fields can be added to both Deals and Funding Sources. Each organization is limited to a total of 100 FlexFields per resource type, including both active and archived fields.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Navigate to Organization Settings
Go to the “Organization Settings” section in your platform dashboard.
Step 2: Add a New FlexField
Select the option to add a new field.
Step 3: Name the Field
Enter a meaningful name for your FlexField (e.g., “Internal Review Status”).
Step 4: Choose a Field Type
Select from the available field types:
Text
Number
Percentage
Select (dropdown list)
Date
Step 5: Configure Select Fields (if applicable)
For “Select” type fields, input your list of dropdown options to ensure standardized user input.
Note:
Once a FlexField is in use, it cannot be edited. You may archive it to maintain data integrity across live integrations and historical reporting.

FlexFields are available across the UI, Partner APIs, Excel Add-In, and reporting tools. While initially limited to Deals and Funding Sources, FlexFields are designed to scale to Projects, Properties, and other data models.
Advanced Use Case: Reporting and Integration
Description
FlexFields provide enhanced customization for clients needing tailored reporting and integration workflows. Populated data from FlexFields flows seamlessly into external reporting tools and APIs, reducing implementation time and increasing reporting accuracy.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Populate FlexFields with Meaningful Data
Ensure users fill out FlexFields during deal creation or funding source updates.
Step 2: Access Data in External Tools
Use the Excel Add-In, Partner APIs, or reporting dashboards to retrieve and analyze FlexField data.
Step 3: Maintain and Archive as Needed
Archive unused FlexFields to stay within the 100-field limit and ensure performance.

For future scalability, expect FlexFields to be extended to support additional data types like Projects and Properties.
