Overview
This article explains how to use the new AI-powered budget feature, which automatically suggests cost types for budget line items when setting up a new budget from a PDF. This feature streamlines budget creation by categorizing line items into standard groups and pre-populating cost tags. Intended for users who want to save time and improve accuracy when building project budgets. Sections include: Setting Up an AI Budget, Understanding Cost Type Suggestions, Editing and Reviewing Cost Types, and FAQs.
1. Setting Up an AI Budget
Start by creating a new budget on your platform.
Upload your budget document (PDF format recommended) using the button Generate From a File.
The AI process will automatically analyze the PDF and extract line items.
Wait for the AI to finish processing. You’ll see a progress indicator during this step.

2. Understanding Cost Type Suggestions
Once processing is complete, the AI will categorize each budget line item into one of 25 standard groups.
These groups are mapped to cost types, and the cost tag for each line item is pre-populated based on the AI’s classification.
A visual indicator (such as an icon) appears next to line items that have been confidently categorized by the AI.
If the AI cannot confidently categorize a line item, no visual indicator will appear for that item.

3. Editing and Reviewing Cost Types
Review the suggested cost types for each line item.
If needed, you can manually change the cost type for any line item.
When you change a pre-populated cost type, the visual indicator is removed—even if you revert to the original suggestion.
Proceed through the budget setup as usual, making adjustments as necessary.
