Managing Milestone Default Names

Overview

The Milestone Default Names Management page is a new feature within the Portfolio Monitoring module designed to standardize milestone tracking across real estate development and construction lending deals. Inconsistent milestone naming—such as using "foundation complete" in one deal and "slab finished" in another—can cause confusion, reporting issues, and compliance risks. This feature helps reduce errors and streamline project oversight by allowing administrators to create, edit, delete, and manage default milestone names centrally.

Managing Milestone Default Names

Description

Tenant-level administrators can now access a new "Milestone Defaults" tab within the Organization Settings area. This page allows them to create standardized milestone names that will be available for use across all deals within the organization. Managing milestone names at this level ensures consistency, prevents duplication, and simplifies milestone setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Navigate to Milestone Defaults

Go to the Organization Settings section. Click on the new Milestone Defaults tab to access the management page.

Step 2: Create a New Milestone Name

Click on the Create button.

• Enter the desired milestone name.

• Click Save. Once saved, the milestone name will be immediately available across all deals.

Step 3: Edit an Existing Milestone Name

Find the milestone you wish to update and click the Edit icon.

• Make the necessary changes.

• Click Save to apply changes across all relevant deals.

Step 4: Delete a Milestone Name

To delete, click the Delete icon next to the milestone.

• This performs a soft delete, meaning the name will no longer be available for future selection, but will not affect existing milestones already in use.

Step 5: Search and Filter

Use the search bar to filter milestone names by:

• Name

• Created by

• Last updated at

Note:

• Only tenant administrators with the appropriate permissions and feature flag enabled can access and manage this feature.

• Future enhancements will include archiving functionality to allow users to restore or view archived milestone defaults.

Advanced Use Case: Preparing for Future Enhancements (Archiving)

Description

While current functionality supports creation, editing, deletion, and searching, upcoming updates will include an Archive feature. This will allow users to:

• Archive milestone defaults (rather than delete)

• Unarchive previously archived milestones

• View a history of archived names for auditing and restoration purposes

• This will be particularly useful for organizations looking to maintain a long-term record of previously used milestones.
