Discarding Draws

Prev Next

Overview

The new Discard Draw functionality allows users to discard a draw prior to initiating transactions and moving funds. This helps users manage draw lifecycle cleanly while still retaining access to the original draw content in a read-only format.

Discarding a Draw

Description

Discarding a draw removes it from active workflows while preserving it in a view-only state. This ensures stakeholders with a direct link can still view the draw without the ability to edit it. Discarded draws are hidden from the primary navigation views and cannot be updated, but their associated documents, payables, disbursements, and approvals remain visible for reference.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Navigate to the draw list within your project.

Step 2: Locate the draw you want to discard. You can discard it directly from the list or open the draw first.

Step 3: Click the Discard button. A confirmation message will appear asking, "Are you sure you want to discard this draw?"

Step 4: If the workflow allows, a second message will show (for lenders only): "If you want the borrower to make updates, consider moving it to 'Revisions Requested.'"

Step 5: Confirm the discard. You will be redirected to the draw management page. The discarded draw will no longer appear in your active list.

Note:

  • Users who access a discarded draw via shared URL can still view the draw in a read-only state.

  • Discarded draws display their discard status and timestamp on the Overview page.

Viewing Discarded Draws (Read-Only Mode)

Description

After discarding, the draw becomes fully viewable in a read-only state. All previously entered information remains visible, but no fields can be edited. This helps maintain transparency and accountability while preventing unauthorized updates.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Open a previously shared URL to a discarded draw.

Step 2: Confirm that the draw loads with a status of "Discarded" displayed.

Step 3: Review the information across tabs:

  • Overview: Shows draw status and discard timestamp.

  • Draw Schedule: Visible but uneditable.

  • Documents: Documents remain accessible, but no edits/uploads allowed.

  • Disbursements: Past disbursements are shown.

  • Approvals: Displays approval history.

  • Comments: Users may still add comments.

  • Payables: Displays attached payables in a view-only state.

Note:

  • Payables can only be attached to one draw at a time. Once a draw is discarded, its payables can be reassigned to another draw.

  • The documents page will no longer list the discarded draw or its files, but users can still access them via the original draw URL.

Functionality for Owner Side Users

Description

The discard feature is fully supported on the Owner side of the platform, including collaborated draws. Owners can manage their draw workflows more flexibly, including discarding and referencing older draws when needed.

Note:

  • All read-only and reassignment functionality applies the same way for owners.

  • This feature supports seamless transitions between draws while maintaining access to historical information.

Summary

Discarding a draw is a non-destructive way to manage outdated or no-longer-relevant draws. It maintains visibility, preserves data, and allows key draw components to be reused elsewhere while ensuring data integrity and workflow cleanliness.
