Overview
Add invoices to a draw at any point after it's been requested — not just while building it. Upload a file for Built's AI to extract the vendor, invoice number, amount, and date, or enter the details manually, then map the invoice to a Sources & Uses line item.
Opening the Invoice Checklist
Description
This works for any draw that has already been requested — Lender Review, Transferred, or any other post-draft status.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
At the top-left of the page, click Portfolio.

Click View or the Deal Name to open the deal. Then click the draw name you want to add an invoice to.

In the Review Draw Submission panel, scroll down to the Invoice checklist section.

Click Add invoice.

Uploading an Invoice for AI Extraction
Description
The fastest way to add an invoice is to upload the file and let Built's AI pull the details for you.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
In the Add invoice window, drag and drop your invoice file into the upload area, or click browse your files. Supported formats: PDF, JPG, PNG. Max 15 pages.

Built processes the file and automatically fills in the Vendor, Invoice #, Amount, and Invoice date fields. These fields are marked "AI-extracted — review and confirm before adding." If the vendor does not exist, select the option to add a new vendor.

If the vendor does not exist complete the New Organization form: Organization Name, Primary Contact Email, Primary Contact First Name, Primary Contact Last Name, Street Address, Address 2 (optional), City, State, and Zip. Click Create.

Review each extracted field for accuracy and correct anything that's wrong.
In the S&U line item field, select the Sources & Uses line item this invoice should be applied to.

Click Add to checklist.

Note:
AI extraction accuracy depends on file quality. Always review and confirm every field before clicking Add to checklist — nothing is saved until you do.
Entering an Invoice Manually
Description
If you don't have a file to upload, or prefer to enter the details yourself, you can add the invoice manually.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
In the Add invoice window, click Enter details manually.

In the Vendor field, search for the vendor. If they're not already a contact, select the option to add a new vendor.

If the vendor does not exist complete the New Organization form: Organization Name, Primary Contact Email, Primary Contact First Name, Primary Contact Last Name, Street Address, Address 2 (optional), City, State, and Zip. Click Create.

Back in the invoice form, enter the Invoice #, Amount, and Invoice date.

In the S&U line item field, select the Sources & Uses line item this invoice should be applied to.

Click Add to checklist.

Note:
Once added, the invoice appears in the Invoice checklist table with its Vendor, Invoice #, Amount, and S&U line, and the draw's invoice count updates.
FAQ
Can I add an invoice to a draft draw this way?
No. This flow is for draws that have already been requested. For draws still in Draft, add payables through the draw request wizard instead.
What if the AI misreads a field?
Edit any AI-extracted field before clicking Add to checklist. Nothing is saved to the draw until you confirm and click Add to checklist.
What if my vendor isn't in Built yet?
Choose Enter details manually, then create the vendor inline using the New Organization form before finishing the invoice.
